Planet X

Have you ever wondered what is out there, what it would be like exploring the stars? Well, you're going to have to keep wondering as space is so vast and mysterious that it's impossible to think what's out there. According to many astronomers/researchers, there supposedly is a planet ten times larger than the earth and 600 times farther away from the sun; astronomers believe it takes a full 3,600 years to complete the orbit around the sun (Redd 1). This is known as Planet X. Do not get this confused with the Nibiru Myth, which is believed to be a cataclysmic event that would destroy the earth (Redd 2). This theory was destroyed when it was said to happen in 2003, then changed to 2012, and it has yet to even come close to proving its real. Planet X is different, its believed that evidence of Planet X has been building up many small object's way beyond Neptune. “In any event, Planet Nine (or Planet X, if you prefer), may actually exist,”(Redd 3). There have been supposed oddities in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, astronomers believed with the discovery of Pluto that it’s the reason for the obscurities, but said “Pluto is too small a planet to make those changes.” (3). He came up with the hypothesis that there is something much larger and farther that modern telescope cannot reach. The best solution is to wait for technology to advance to truly find out what's really out there. This is about to see if there really is another planet way in the back of our solar system.

David Meade is what people would say is a self-proclaimed “specialist in research and investigations,” with his theory of with Planet X, or Nibiru, would collide with the Earth September 23, 2017. But really, who is David Meade? David Meade is a Christian conspiracy theorist who believes in the end-of-the-world scenario. He wrote Planet X – The 2017 Arrival, predicting that Nibiru will collide with Earth in October, but then pushed it back a few weeks. His hypothesis received a boost this year when NASA announced the discovery of Planet Nine, a new planet in the solar system. Meade’s prediction is largely based on the Bible passage "See, the Day of the Lord is coming – a terrible day, with wrath and great fury – to leave the country barren and slay the sinners within it," the Bible scripture Isaiah Chapter 13 9-10. The constellations and stars of Heaven will not shine. The Moon will not provide its light, and the rising Sun will be obscured." (Meade Worlds End Theory) He also argues that a planet called Nibiru is on its way to Earth, despite NASA's denial that it is a fake. Meade claims that when it passes Earth later this year, disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tidal waves, and other natural disasters will occur.

As stated previously, there is a chance there may be a whole other planet in our solar system. Now, this will be a momentous occasion if this is to be found true, and this will be the next step for our exploration of the stars. The possibility of an undiscovered planet this close to us is extraordinary and a chance for something great as a habitable planet. But this is still only one of two theories in this conspiracy.

What I'm talking about would indeed be the Nibiru cataclysm that the Mayans predicted would be the end of the world. According to an International Business Times report, the conspiracy theory holds that our world will be destroyed by a gigantic space body called Nibiru that hides just outside our solar system. According to believers, the renegade planet will strike Earth with all its strength, wreaking irreparable havoc. Now what this is referring to would be the believed end of the world on December 21, 2012. And of course this never happened. NASA prepared a response well in advance in case the world survived the historic 21 December 2012 appeal for the end of the world. A day later, on December 22, the space agency produced a video detailing all of the reasons why the claim was a hoax and nothing more. Because of this response, they seemed to completely shut down this theory. NASA set up an open Google Hangout to discourage more doom-mongering about Nibiru. Six senior NASA researchers conducted the conversation, sharing their findings on a possible 'Planet Nibiru' and dispelling misconceptions. There is evidence that 'Planet Nibiru' could be a possible reality, indicating that NASA was correct about the Mayans' scientific prowess. There is no scientific evidence that its still a conspiracy today, but people do still believe that something is out there.

The second theory that is included in the conspiracy would the possibility of the Planet X. In early 2018, NASA said in a press release that researchers from Caltech have found evidence of what could be a "real” Planet X deep in the solar system. “It's too early to say with certainty there's a so-called Planet X,” Jim Green, director of NASA's Planetary Science Division, was quoted in the release. “What we're seeing is an early prediction based on modelling from limited observations. It's the start of a process that could lead to an exciting result." Six far-flung objects in our solar system have orbits that extend beyond Neptune (magenta) and all point in the same direction. This anomaly, researchers believe, points to a huge planet, likely Planet X (in mustard), as the cause. However, unless researchers detect the putative planet and trace its route, this remains a speculation. Caltech researcher Mike Brown co-discovered Planet X’s existence in the modelling study but is yet to directly observe it. He also played a key role in demoting Pluto’s status to a dwarf planet. "All those people who are mad that Pluto is no longer a planet can be thrilled to know that there is a real planet out there still to be found," Brown said to the university press. "Now we can go and find this planet and make the solar system have nine planets once again."

So do we really think that there is another planet out there deep in our solar system. Or do we think that doomsday is still going to happen. Who knows, maybe that planet on the outside reaches of our solar system is our so-called doomsday planet, Planet Nibiru. But it could also be the next closest thing to a habitable world since mars was discovered to have ice under its surface.

All of these questions still remain unanswered, but it seems we’re getting closer to them every day.
